There are areas for LGBTQ families, women’s health, HIV testing, teens, and a sobriety village for people in recovery. Our accessibility team offers wheelchairs, ASL services, and a braille/tactile festival map. Last year, Pride’s two-day Music Festival was attended by over 40,000 individuals and comprised of entertainment zones including our main stage, Latino stage, Hip-Hop stage, Electronic Dance Music stage, and a major “Art of Pride” visual art exhibit. In 2015, the San Diego Pride Parade became the first and only parade to host an LGBTQ youth marching band, bringing in youth from across Southern California to perform in an environment that celebrates their talent and honors their identity. San Diego Pride has the distinction of being the first Pride in the nation to host a children’s garden, one of the first to have areas specific to LGBTQ seniors and their care, and holds the honor of being the first Pride in the nation to allow service members to march in uniform. San Diego Pride has embraced the diversity of our community by expanding the services, art, and entertainment housed within our events.

From a small 1974 protest with a few dozen people marching through the streets of downtown San Diego, Pride has expanded from Hillcrest, the historically LGBTQ neighborhood, to an event that draws from all across the region.
